I was born and brought up in Bulwell, Nottingham, but moved to Chilwell in 1992 with my husband Steve. Our son, Thomas was born two years later. We moved to Beeston and I became a Councillor in 2011. I am proud to have been elected again in 2015 and 2019.
I attended Manning Grammar School and Clarendon College where I studied Business and Accountancy alongside languages. I have since become fully qualified as a Mortgage and Equity Release Adviser, although I am now retired from the world of work.
Previously employed for 38 years in Banking and Finance I retired in 2017 due to ill health. I now keep busy by working hard for residents as their Councillor.
I joined the Liberal Democrats in 1992 and I am currently Treasurer for the local party. I believe in community cohesion and my aim is to improve the living environment for all residents, whatever their political persuasion or need.
I am Vice-Chair of Housing along with being a Committee member of the Alcohol and Licencing, Finance and Housing Performance Committees. I am the Council’s representative on Sure Start and The United Charities of Abel Collins Homes.
My hobbies include reading and travel and I love animals, especially cats.
