For the Advisory Shareholder Sub Committee to note the Liberty Leisure Limited Performance Report for Quarter 1 (Q1) 2026-27. 

Members noted the Liberty Leisure Limited Business Plan Progress Report for Quarter 1 2026/27 and were informed that attendance levels had exceeded target, the overall financial performance was forecast to be above budget and exercise referral programmes continued to perform strongly. Members were advised of the continuing success of the Stronger with Parkinson's programme and ongoing discussions regarding a potential stroke rehabilitation referral programme.

Swimming lesson memberships had improved following promotional activity during the summer period and Stapleford Community Pavilion continued to perform well, particularly the padel courts. During discussion, Members highlighted the importance of increasing awareness of exercise referral opportunities and strengthening links with community organisations and residents living with long-term health conditions to support health and wellbeing outcomes across the Borough.

Members noted the Liberty Leisure Limited Business Plan Progress Report for Quarter 1 2026/27. The Sub-Committee received updates on key priorities including the operation of Stapleford Community Pavilion, preparations relating to the new Bramcote Leisure Centre, membership growth and the development of health referral initiatives. Members discussed the wider contribution of leisure services to public health, particularly in supporting residents with dementia, diabetes, mobility issues and other long-term conditions. Consideration was also given to the relationship between leisure facilities, parks, open spaces and recreational opportunities across the Borough, with Members suggesting that further work be undertaken to explore how improved connectivity and access could support health and wellbeing objectives.

The Advisory Shareholder Sub-Committee is asked to approve its Work Programme and to consider items for consideration at future meetings.

The Committee considered the Work Programme and requested the inclusion of a future report examining access to open spaces, countryside and community recreational facilities across the Borough. It was noted that there was a strong relationship between leisure provision, recreation grounds, playgrounds and the wider environment, and Members supported the development of a clearer strategic approach to improving access to these assets and strengthening the links between environmental and leisure services.

RESOLVED that the Work Programme, with the addition of items regarding Open Spaces, Recreation and Leisure Connectivity Strategy, be approved.
