BEREAVEMENT SERVICES UPDATE PDF 128 KB To provide the Joint Committee with various updates regarding Bramcote Bereavement Services.
Minutes: A report was considered by the Joint Committee with updates relating to Bramcote Bereavement Services:
· The Serenity Chapel toilet work was completed in December 2018 and it was anticipated that the final cost will be around £33,000. As of 20 February 2019 expenditure was £21,767.34. · The cremator re-line and hearth budget was not required in 2018/19. It was proposed that the budget be carried forwarded to 2020/21. · Options were being explored for the heat exchanger and boiler replacement. It was proposed that as no works had taken place that the budget be carried forward to 2020/21. · A tendering process was being undertaken for the replacement crematorium burials software. It was proposed that as no works had taken place that the budget be carried forward to 2020/21.
RESOLVED that carry forwards of expenditure be approved.

To update Committee on welfare funerals in Broxtowe and Erewash Boroughs.
Minutes: The Joint Committee were updated on the welfare funerals that took place in Broxtowe and Erewash Boroughs.
The Councils have a statutory duty under the provisions of Section 46 of the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 to undertake the disposal of deceased persons, either by cremation or burial, who die in Broxtowe or Erewash Boroughs and where no other arrangements have been made.
It was noted that 6 welfare funerals were undertaken in 2017/18 for Broxtowe and 4 for Erewash.
The Joint Committee requested a further report on the funeral concessions granted to servicemen. |

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT 2018/19 PDF 8 KB To advise the Joint Committee on the performance levels for the crematorium so far in 2018/19.

It was noted that the crematorium were expected to exceed the total number of cremations for 2018/19. |
