Decision details

Cabinet noted the update on the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) following the Government’s announcement to pause proceedings. It was stated that there should be a priority around delivering services in any future reorganisation and was imperative that this Council continued to work alongside Officers, Councillors and other councils in order to prepare for the future and it would continue to serve its residents. It was further stated that compensation would be sought for costs incurred during the process. The use of the Chief Executive’s Urgency Powers was noted regarding legal opinion on the LGR decision.
